Question:
Is it obligatory for the wife to serve her husband
Answer:
In the Hanafi Fiqh, it is considered obligatory for the wife between herself and Allah (Diyanatan) top serve her husband by doing the household chores. It is not obligatory legally (Qadhaan) for the wife to serve the husband by doing the household chores. (Durre Mandhuud p.163 v.1)
It is mentioned in the hadith that Saaidah Aaisha [ranha] would wash the miswaak and give it to the Prophet of Allah [saw] to use. (See Sunan Abu Dawud p.9 v.1)
