Question
Is it permissible to cremate dead animals?
بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيْم
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Answer:
Allah says “Then Allah sent a crow searching in the ground to show him how to hide (bury) the disgrace of his brother. He said, "O woe to me! Have I failed to be like this crow and hide the body of my brother?" And he became of the regretful.” [Surah Maidah: 31]
From the verse above, we see that it is preferable to bury the animals which may have passed away than to cremate the body.
In regards to your query, there is no explicit quotation from the Quran and Sunnah on how the remains of an animal should be disposed of.
The Prophet (PBUH) has mentioned: "Faith has seventy-some odd doors, the lowest of which is removing something harmful from the road, and its highest is the statement La Ilaha Illallah." [Tirmidhi 2614]
Therefore, if the remains of an animal are causing a problem and harm for the pedestrians and burying is not possible, then cremating will be permissible for the removal of the remains.
