Question:
Is it permissible to offer nawafil including tahiyatul masjid after fajr sunnah? I have heard that there’s a hadith that one should not offer nawafil after fajr sunnah. To clarify, the brother prays sunnah of fajr at home and then comes to the masjid. Can he pray tahiyyatul masjid then or not?

Answer:
There are 2 types of times when salaah is not to be prayed [1].
The first category is sunrise, midday point and sunset. The second category is the time between Fajr and sunrise and the time between asr and close to sunset [2].
When fajr time begins, it is disliked to pray any other nawafil except for the 2 rakaat of sunnah muakkadah [3].
