Question:

As Salamu Alikum

Honourable Mufti Saheb

I Hope Hazrat Mufti Saheb is well and in the best of health,

My question is: Is it permissible to prevent Jamats from the musjid?

We have a group of brothers and unfortunately ulama as well speaking ill of Nizamudeen Markaz and of Hazratji Ml Sa’d Saheb and they’ve come to a conclusion Allah hu A’lam is that any jamaats associated with Nizamuddeen or any jamaats that do not carry a letter from ‘world shura’ are not allowed to stay in the masajid.

Kindly In the light of Shariah Explain whether such actions are in direct conflict with the Quran and sunnah or not.

Answer:

According to the shariah, every believer has the duty of enjoining good and forbidding evil.

Allah states, “And let there be amongst you a group inviting to virtue, commanding the good and forbidding evil—those indeed are the successful ones” (1)

Jama’at and Tabligh have the purpose of inviting others to Islam and to continue to the work of the ummah. It will be incorrect to hinder any growth or advancement of the Deen.

In such situations, there should be clear dialogue and encouragement to bring what is good and stop the harm. Tabligh allows the progression of Islam and therefore that should be a consideration.

It was narrated that Abu Umamah said: “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘No people go astray after having followed right guidance, but those who indulge in disputes.’ Then he recited the Verse: “Nay! But they are a quarrelsome people.'” (2)

The community should work to address the debate and issues without making accusations and hurting others.

Thus, in response to your query, the practice of this ummah should be to reduce conflicts and issues and therefore, the matter should be addressed appropriately by considering the maslaha (goodness) and the harms. No one should prevent that which brings good and enjoins evil as this has been instructed by Allah SWT.
