Question
Is it permissible to wear Aqeeq rings?
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Answer
Your question will be looked at in two ways. Firstly, the issue of wearing the Aqeeq ring and secondly whether men are allowed to wear rings or not.
Imam Haithami (RA) in his Majmauz Zawaaid reports that the Prophet of Allah Sallallahu Alahi Wasalam said, “The person who wears Aqeeq, will always find prosperity and goodness.”
Based on this hadith the jurists have deemed the wearing of the Aqeeq ring as permissible. (Fatawa Hindiyyah p.335 v.5)
Secondly, in the Hanafi Fiqh, wearing a ring is only considered a sunnah for those who need to stamp with it, such as a judge (qadhi) or a leader. The Prophet of Allah Sallallahu Alahi Wasalam is understood to have worn a ring for stamping, not adornment. (Durre Mandhuud p.131&p.192 v.6)
However, men are only permitted (mubah not sunnah) to wear silver rings, which weigh less than 4.86 grams. (Ahsanul Fatawa p.69 v.8)
The conclusion to your question is that it is permissible for men to wear Aqeeq rings.
