Question:
Is playing musical instruments in an app haram?
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Answer:
The prohibition of music in Islam is not restricted to instruments, rather it is the sounds that are prohibited as well. Since the app makes the same sounds as the physical instruments and provides the same outcome it will be impermissible.1
