Question

I need your kind advice, once during my childhood, I heard in a bayan if we pray 100 rakats nafl, Allah accepts our duas immediately, in one shot, in particular, Saturday night. In Islam, we don’t have Saturday night, it’s English days. Can I pray 100 rakats one shot if I have a problem in life and also to full fill my needs?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer

Nafl salah is a type of optional salah for which the person performing will receive an extra reward.

It is narrated by Umme Habibah that the Prophet (PBUH) has said: “Any Muslim slave of Allah who prays for the sake of Allah 12 rakats every day other than the obligatory (prayers) Allah will build for him a house in Jannah.” (Sahih Muslim P.251 v.1)

It is narrated by Saaidah Aaisha that the Prophet (PBUH) has said; “The two rakats (Sunnah of Fajr prayer are better than this world and what it contains.” (Sahih Muslim P251 V.1)

Regarding your question one does not need to pray 100 rakats of nafl salah in order for one’s dua to get accepted immediately as Allah mentioned in the Qur’an; “Call upon me, I will answer you,” (Surah Mu’min/Ghafir Ayah 60). From this ayah we can learn that Allah encourages his servants to call upon him regardless of how many times, and he guarantees to respond.

The Prophet (PBUH) mentioned; “Dua is the essence of worship”. (Zaadut Taalibeen)

There are three things that have been granted for this ummah which was not bestowed upon the previous nations, but only to Prophets;

  • When Allah sent a Prophet, He said to him, “You are a witness over your nation.” But you have been made witness over mankind.
  • It was said to the Prophets individually, “Allah has not laid upon you any hardship in religion.” But he said to this entire nation “and (Allah) has not laid upon you in religion any hardship.” (Surah Hajj Ayah 78)
  • It was said to the Prophets individually; “call upon me, I will answer you,” but it was said to this nation, “call upon me, I will answer you”.

From the above information, we can conclude that nafl prayers the more one prays the more rewards one will receive. Also one should make dua whenever, wherever they are whether in need or not because Allah loves those of you who ask, and dislikes those of you who do not ask.
