Question
Is there a dua that Allah forgives all your sins?
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Answer:
Narrated Shaddad bin Aus: The Prophet (ﷺ) said “The most superior way of asking for forgiveness from Allah is by saying:
The Prophet (ﷺ) added. “If somebody recites this during the day with firm faith in it, and dies on the same day before the evening, he will be from the people of Paradise; and if somebody recites it at night with firm faith in it, and dies before the morning, he will be from the people of Paradise.”[1]
There are many other forms of actions that can also rid a person from all of their sins:
- Performing Hajj
Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “Whoever performs Hajj for Allah’s pleasure and does not have sexual relations with his wife, and does not do evil or sins then he will return (after Hajj free from all sins) as if he were born anew.”[2]
- Praying with Sincere Preparations
‘Amr b Sa’id b al-As reported: I was with Uthman, and he called for ablution water and said: I heard Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) say: When the time for a prescribed prayer comes, if any Muslim performs ablution well and offers his prayer with humility and bowing, it will be an expiation for his past sins, so long as he has not committed a major sin; and this applies for all times.[3]
- Hiding of One’s Own Sins
Narrated Abu Huraira:I heard Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) saying. “All the sins of my followers will be forgiven except those of the Mujahirin (those who commit a sin openly or disclose their sins to the people) …”[4]
There are various ways of seeking forgiveness and pardon from sins. Each variation giving a different taste and peace in the heart from such a humble act. We pray that Allah accepts our istighfar, Ameen.
