Question:

Salaam, I have two brothers in Pakistan living with their parents. They never look after their parents and sisters and brothers, they look after their wife's only. They always misbehave with my parents. They call us only for money, no money no relationship. Because they don't like my parents, that’s why I don't like to contacts them,. They complain to my parents she (I) don’t like to talk with them. What I should do? Whenever I talk or contact with them they be ask for only money, if I refuse they get angry.

Answer:

Bismillah

It is incumbent upon every child to treat their parents with upmost respect.

Consider the following verse in the Qur’aan where Allah Ta’ala says;

Your Lord has commanded that you worship only Him and that you treat your parents kindly. If anyone of the two (your parents), or both of them reaches old age with you, (especially) then do not even tell them “oof” (or anything else that may cause them hurt) and do not rebuke them (even though they may be at fault).

[Surah Al-Israa: 23]

It is the responsibility of the son to provide for his parents and (unmarried) sisters. However, if the sisters are married, their husbands will be responsible for the nafaqa of their wives.

[Fatawa Al-Hindiyyah]

The attitude of your brothers is incorrect; you should kindly explain to them that they will be sinning for neglecting the needs of their parents. Ask an elder of the family or a respectable scholar to speak to them if they do not listen.

Only Allah Ta’ala knows best
