Question:

I have read a fatwa on your site about when a woman is required to perform Wudu again if mazi comes out. From the fatwa, I understood that when mazi comes out to the outside of the labia minora (please excuse), then the Wudu breaks. But, I’m not sure what this means.

Does it mean that mazi has to come out of the tip of the labia minora for the Wudu to break or to come out of the vagina only? Please clarify because I have a lot of doubts in my Wudu about mazi coming out and it motivates me to think that there is time until Wudu breaks and I can finish my prayer.

Answer:

The inner lips of the vagina are the labia minora and the outer lips are called the labia majora. If the (urethral discharge) Mazi can be seen (i.e. outside the labia majora) then Wudhu breaks.

It is mentioned in Manhal Al Waridayn regarding madhi:

وإذا شككت هل خرج منك شيء أو لا, فالأصل عدم خروج شيء، فلا تلزم إعادة الوضوء ولا يلزم التفتيش

[With regards to Mazi] If the woman has doubts regarding (the mazi) coming out (i.e. out of the labia majora), then that means nothing has come out. No wudhu repetition is needed nor further investigation. [Manhal Al Waridayn page 143 Dar-Al-Siraj Publicatio]
