Question:
I am a 16 year old who when he was 13 years or so used to make many many oaths. For example, to complete the Quran each year or not, or to eat or drink a certain food. Now I wish to break them however I don’t think I have what it takes to expiate for all of them. Would I be able to perform one expiation for all of them or what can I do in this situation.
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Answer:
If you had not hit puberty at that age, you will not be responsible for those oaths. If however, you were passed the age of puberty, then you will have to complete a Kaffarah. The kaffārah for breaking an oath is feeding ten people two meals each or giving each one of them a pair of clothes. If you are absolutely unable to do this then you should fast for three consecutive days.
