Question

What's the maximum number of days of periods and a minimum number of days for tuhr?

Is it possible that a woman bleeds 5 days and 13 days tuhr and this is her menstrual cycle?

Answer

Minimum thuhr is 15 days and there is no limit for the maximum period. Minimum haiz is 3 days and the maximum is 10 days. If a woman bleeds less than 3 days then it will be regarded as Istihaza. In the state of iatihaza a woman will be in the ruling of a clean woman except that she will do wudhu for every salah

If a woman bleeds more than 10 days whilst she has a habit of a certain number of days in menses, then the number of days she is habitual to will be regarded as menses and the rest will be istihazah.

If she bleeds more than she is habitual to but less than 10 days then that whole period will be regarded to be haiz and this number will be her new habit in the menstrual cycle.

If the blood ceases for less than 15 days then that whole period will be regarded as continuous bleeding.  (All the above is extracted from Al Lubab fi Sharhil Kitab, pg. 45, vol. 1, Al Maktabatul Ilmiyah)

Therefore, if a woman bleeds for five days then the blood ceases for thirteen days, then starts to bleed again for five days, the whole period will be regarded as continuous bleeding.  Furthermore, the thirteen days wherein the blood paused along with the following two days of bleeding, will be regarded as Istihaza, and the remaining three days will be haiz (menses).
