Question:

Salam.

I work in an area where the mosque is very far to get to, a Muslim colleague and I go together as he has a car.
Sometimes he has obligations and tells me about them then leaves early on a Friday, I then arrange to make alternative means to get to the mosque by requesting a driver to take me and pick me up. Although I have to work around their schedules for that time. They do agree but are not always on time to take me thus I miss the Jumua prayer not intentionally. As my intention to get to the mosque and make prior arrangements.
My question is with my intention and effort to try and get to the mosque for Jumua, and I fail, what punishment will I receive or discomfort for not attending Jumua although I tried all alternatives to go.

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

All efforts should be made to be able to attend the Jumuah prayers and should not be missed intentionally.

Alternatives such as public transport should be used where possible.

It is narrated from Abu Al-Ja’d Ad-Damri who is a Companion of the Prophet ﷺ that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: “Whoever misses three Jumu’ah out of negligence, Allah will place a seal over his heart.”[1]

If the Jumuah prayer is completed by the time you arrive at the masjid the Zuhr prayer will need to be performed in its place.
