Question:
Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah
My family is against me keeping a beard. I have not fallen for their constant effort on me to trim it off. If my mother curses me due to this reason, will those curses affect me? If she cries because of this, will I be held accountable Tomorrow? This scenario has been going on for years and I used to succumb to their wish until recently.
Now alhamdulillah, I have strong determination to follow the Sunnah of my Rasul (Am I doing it right?). I always observe silence when they are mad at me in order to not behave inappropriately. I've tried making them understand its importance but in vain. Please make dua for mom and dad. JazakAllahu khairan

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As a Muslim, it is incumbent that our criteria are the Quran and the Sunnah. If another person asks us to disobey Allah (swt) and his Rasool, we must not listen to them. This is based on the principle which comes from the hadith with the same wording-
“There is no obedience to the creation where there is disobedience of the creator.” [1]
So even though parents have such great rights over their children, they must not be obeyed when they ask you to disobey Allah (swt). Rather it is incumbent upon you to continue in obedience to Allah (swt) while showing great love and kind treatment to your parents.
Just as Allah (swt) said-
“But if they endeavour to make you associate with Me that of which you have no knowledge, do not obey them but accompany them in this world with appropriate kindness.” [2]
A Muslim is not allowed to curse another Muslim, the Prophet (PBUH) said that cursing another Muslim is like killing him. [3]
Know that if you do face trials in your life, it is not the curse of your mother, rather it is the tests for you which come from Allah (swt) to see if you are truly of one who has faith.
Only (swt) alone knows best.
