Question:

Can a company pay employees by giving them shares in the company?

For example, for each hour worked they give one share of the company.

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

The Prophet (peace be upon him) prohibited combining two agreements within a single contract. However, this does not apply here, as each agreement is independent of the other.

For example, if the employee resigns, they will still retain their shares, and the profit from these shares does not depend on their work efforts. Since each aspect is separate, this arrangement would be permitted.

Only Allah knows best.
