Question
Hazrat, my understanding is it is Makruh Tanzihi to do such a thing. Now, I know if one repeatedly commits an act which, is considered Makruh Tanzihi, then such a person is sinful?
Does this mean, occasionally it is haram, or sinful for a person to sleep after every Fajar salah?
This quite hard during UK summers where Fajr is as early as 1-2 am and Jamat is no later than 3-4 am.
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Answer
Firstly, the Makruh time for sleeping after Fajr is to sleep before Salatul Ishraaq starts (Salatul Ishraaq starts about 15 minutes after sunrise). (Bahishti Zewar, Chapter of optional Salah)
Secondly, Islamically sins are divided into minor and major when a minor sin is committed constantly it becomes a major sin.
Imam Nawawi says in Sharah Muslim “The scholars (may Allah have mercy on them) said: Persisting in a minor sin makes it a major sin. It was narrated from ‘Umar, Ibn ‘Abbaas, and others (may Allah be pleased with them): There is no major sin if one prays for forgiveness and no minor sin if one persists in it. What is meant is that the major sin may be erased by praying for forgiveness, but the minor sin becomes a major sin if one persists in it.”
