Question:

Assalamu Alaikum Mufti Sahib.

I am in need of your guidance regarding the payment of my Zakat Due. Kindly help me out with respect to the same.

I started earning in the month of August 2017. I haven't paid for my Zakah since then. Alhamdulillah, my salary is 8500 AED per month. I saved around 7000 AED per month excluding all my expenses.

Kindly help me out with the detailed calculation to date and the payment of Zakah of all this duration.

Answer:

For the duration of August 2017 to March 2019 (20 months), you would have saved up 140000 AED (7000 x 20). Thus, you need to give 2.5% of this amount in Zakah which is 3500 AED.
