Question:

Questions Regarding Meat & Milk for Jersey Cow: Scientists (Jews) have manipulated the genes in cows. It is believed pig (swine) genes were used to develop modern-day dairy cows because pig produces the maximum milk compared to their body weight.

Is it permissible to consume their meat and milk?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

We did not find any evidence to back the claim that genes from pigs are used in the jersey cattle dairy cows.

For more information about jersey cows please see:

  2. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jersey_cattle

Having said that, if these claims were true, it would not impede the permissibility of the milk or animal. Despite having a few different strands of genes, the cow will still be a cow.

Animals are subject to their mother in lawfulness and unlawfulness. If the meat and dairy of the mother are permissible to consume, then the meat and dairy of that animal will also be permissible to consume.1
