Question

If I accidentally recite few words of durood in the second Rakaah is the sajda wajib?

Answer

Prostrations of forgetfulness is necessary if one does more than At Tahiyyat recitation in the first At-Tahiyyat sitting of three or four Rakah prayer, like forgetfully reciting the blessings supplication for the Prophet after completing the At-Tahiyyat, or staying silent for a period in which one of the smallest essentials of Salah may be performed. According to ‘Fatawa-e-Alamghiree’, “Reading anything more than Tasahhud in the 1st sitting necessitates prostrations of forgetfulness.” [See: Fatawa-e-Alomghiree, vol: 1, page: 162, publisher: Bangladesh Taj Company Limited]

According to Imaam Abu Hanifa, “Prostrations of forgetfulness is not needed because of reading Durood on the Prophet in the 1st sitting, rather it is needed because it delays the Standing (Qiyam) which is one of the obligatory acts of Prayer.” [See: Majmuah Fataawaa by Imaam Abdul Hay Lakhnawi, question: 238, page: 215, publisher: Maktaba-e-Thanvi, Deoband, U.P]
