Question:
As Salaamu 'Alaykum Warahmatullahi Wabarkatuhu,
I pray you're well In Sha Allah. I was wondering if the research can be carried out regarding the following statement:
لا يزال الناس بخير ما أخذوا العلم عن أكابرهم
It was quoted as a Hadith, I would like to know if it is, in essence, a Hadith or mawquf to a Sahabi, and the grading of it. Jazak Allahu Khayran

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Answer:
The report you have mentioned is mawquf to ‘Abd Allah bin Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him). In other words, it is not a Hadith of the Prophet (peace be upon him) rather it’s a statement of ‘Abd Allah bin Mas’ud himself, which has been authenticated by Imaam Ibn Hibbaan and Imaam al-Haakim.1 2
