Question:

I had done ghusl two days earlier but had waswasas regarding it so repeated it during fast. I did not gargle since I know it is to be avoided during fast, but I sniffed water in the nose more than three times so that it reaches the bone. Then I got a feeling in my throat like that in sore throat. Now I am wondering was it water that irritated my throat. If this is the case is my fast invalidated keeping in mind that at the time, I sniffed I knew I was fasting, but I did not want water to reach my throat. The intention was just so that it could reach my nasal bone.

Answer:

The general principle is that when one is fasting then it is advised to not exaggerate in rinsing the nose and the mouth to avoid water reaching the throat thus invalidating the fast.

So, in your situation it is not clear whether water reached the throat or not, therefore, as a measure of precaution, we advise you to catch up one fast, in shā Allah.
