Question:
I got this doubt but I would like to confirm if it is okay. We had planned for iui and I had to give semen sample in morning at around 9 am.
I had night fall around 6:30 am on that day and as I had to give semen i didn’t take a ghusl rather washed private parts and changed dress as I had to take ghusl anyways after giving sample. I gave sample and had ghusl. Is this permissible?
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Answer:
Delaying Ghusl is permissible and is understood through multiple Ahadith. It is preferred to make Wudu after Janābat when delaying. It would be impermissible to delay Ghusl if it entails missing Salāt.
I asked Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) “Can any one of us sleep while he is Junub?” He replied, “Yes, if he performs ablution, he can sleep while he is Junub.” (Bukhari 287)
There is nothing wrong with a person in a state of major ritual impurity (Janabah) sleeping and having sexual intercourse with his wife before performing ablution. If he performs ablution, that is good. If he wants to eat or drink, he should rinse his mouth and wash his hands. This is stated in Al-Siraj Al-Wahhaaj. (Fatāwā Hindiyyah)
