Question:

Is it permissible to give Sadaqatul Fitr according to wheat chapati Flour that we eat? If it’s permissible, what is the amount of Sadaqatul Fitr Fitrana according to chapati wheat flour, can you please work it out and let me know.

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

It is permissible to give Sadaqatul Fitr in the form of wheat flour. The required amount is half a Sā’ of wheat or its equivalent in flour, which is approximately 1.635876 kg.[1] While giving wheat or its flour is permitted, offering the cash equivalent is often preferable as it is easier to distribute and may better meet the needs of the recipients.

The Zakāt Al-Fitr is necessary only from four things: wheat, barley, dates, and raisins. This is in Khazānah Al-Muftīn and Sharh At-Tahawi. It is half a Sā’ of wheat, or one Sā’ of barley or dates, and wheat and barley flour[2]

In other words, when taking the present weights into consideration, one tolā equals 11.664gm, then 140 tolās will equal 1.632.96kg.[3]
