Question:

Is it halal to work as an aircraft engineer for an airline that allows passengers to fly to Israel? If I work in this job, is my money halal, and am I assisting in sin?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

As an Aircraft Engineer, you play a critical role in the aviation industry, ensuring the safety and functionality of aircraft by conducting regular maintenance, making necessary repairs, and designing new systems.

Even though you are not directly involved in the sin that is occurring in Israel, nevertheless, being indirectly involved with a company that facilitates travel to a conflict zone like Israel raises concerns about assisting in actions that may not be in line with Islamic principles of justice and supporting the oppressed. Therefore, it is not permissible for you to continue working in a job where you are indirectly assisting a company involved in such activities.

Radd al-Muhtar, Maktaba Shamila, Volume 6 states:

«لا يجوز للإنسان أن يعمل في عمل يؤدي إلى معصية الله أو يعين على فعل الحرام.»

“It is not permissible for a person to work in a job that leads to the disobedience of Allah or assists in committing what is forbidden.”
