Glucosamine sulfate is a naturally occurring chemical found in the human body. It is in the fluid around joints. Glucosamine also exists in other places in nature. For example, glucosamine sulfate used in dietary supplements is often obtained from the shells of shellfish( from the above shellfish)
Can you kindly help with the question above please. I’ve asked a pharmacist for details on the ingredients and I will provide the information below.
Crustaceans (make up a very large group of the Arthropods which include crabs, lobsters, crayfish, shrimp, krill, barnacles brine shrimp, copepods, ostracods and mantis shrimp.
I have seen this product in many joint pain products
That’s the only information I know…we can eat shellfish?
Usually when fish & animal products are used they as broken up../degraded they don’t stay in their original form. I know there are some molanase school of thought is it’s ok…( I personally believe some of animals/fish products are used as there’s no alternative usually for its function…if in doubt my advice would be to see if there’s an alternative form or not take it.

According to the Hanafi scholars the only seafood which is permitted is fish. Any other animals is not allowed. There is a difference of opinion, some say, crustaceans such as prawns are a type of fish therefore it is permissible. Some are of the opinion that it is not a fish therefore impermissible and this is the preferred opinion as there is a possibility of being impermissible, it is better to refrain.
In conclusion, such products such as glucosamine sulfate which made from crustaceans would be allowed but refraining is better and safer.
