Question:

In the last two rakahs of fard salah is it permissible to say tasbih three times based on the following athar
Abu Ishaq reported from both Ali and Abdullah Ibn Masuud that they said, "Recite in the first two, and do tasbihs in the last two." (Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba)
Is there any more narrations saying this can be done.
Also as I do tasbih in the last two rakahs of fard salah instead of al fatiha have I done something wrong?

Answer

بسم الله الرحمن الرحي

In Raddul Muhtar it is stated that Ali raḥimahullāh (may Allāh have mercy upon him) and Ibn Masud raḥimahullāh (may Allāh have mercy upon him) have narrated that “a person has a choice to either read surah fatihah or do Tasbeeh or to stay quite in the last two rakaats” (raddulmuhtar,  pg. 511,  vol. 1 Darul fikr)

In Raddul Muhtar it is also said that it is better to read Surah Fatiha but there is no sin in reading tasbeeh. (Raddul Muhtar,  pg. 512,  vol. 1 Darul Fikr)

Only Allah knows best.
