Question:

 

A woman started taking period control pills 2 days before her period date and after a week she started bleeding while taking the pills. Can she keep on taking the pills and pray? Or has her period started?

 

 

 

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

 

 

Answer:

 

These pills do not guarantee a complete cessation of menstruation nor specify how long they may delay it.

Therefore, the ruling will adhere to the established menstrual habit. If bleeding occurs for three days or more but less than ten days, it will be classified as haidh (menstrual bleeding).

العادة محكمة

 

انما تعتبر العادة اذا اطردت اوغلبت

اي : ان العادة المعتبرة التي تبني عليها الاحكام الشرعية انما هي المطردة او الغالبة، و ان الشيوع في الاكثر كاف اذ لا عبرة لااقل، و العادة المطردة تنزل متزلة الشرط

 

«تحفة الفقهاء» (1/ 33):

«قَالَ عُلَمَاؤُنَا ‌أقل ‌الْحيض ‌ثَلَاثَة ‌أَيَّام ‌ولياليها وَأَكْثَره عشرَة أَيَّام ولياليها»

 

«مختصر القدوري» (ص19):

«‌‌باب الحيض

أقل الحيض ثلاثة أيام ولياليها

‌وما ‌نقض ‌عن ‌ذلك ‌فليس ‌بحيض ‌وهو ‌استحاضة

وأكثر الحيض عشرة أيام ولياليها وما زاد على ذلك فهو استحاضة

وما تراه المرأة من الحمرة والصفرة والكدرة في أيام الحيض فهو حيض حتى ترى البياض الخالص»
