Question:
Is there any issue with a person standing on a pillow during Salah?
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Answer:
It will be permissible for one to stand on a pillow during Salah. The pillow must be clean and pure.
It is stated in Al Fatawa Al Hindiyya:
“The obligation (of standing) is fulfilled with the minimum action that the term standing encompasses. The meaning of standing is that it should be in a manner that when one extends their hands, they do not reach their knees.” (V.1 pg.69)
However, the pillow should not distract you from fulfilling the physical postures of the prayer correctly.
It is essential to maintain the focus and concentration required during prayer. If this results in one losing their focus during Salah, then it will be undesirable.
