Question:
The meaning of the Hadith is that people recite dhikr on soft beds and Allah raises them to the highest levels of Paradise because of this dhikr.
What kind of dhikr is meant here? Does reading the book of hadith, reciting the Qur’an, and glorifying Allah all included in it?
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Answer:
The Prophet S.A.W. said;
In this world, people should certainly remember Allah on their soft [comfortable] beds and Allah will grant them entry into the high stages of Jannah. (1)
Sahih Ibn Hibban, 398
This Hadith refers to any type of Dhikr.
Dhikr is to be mindful of Allah S.W.T. and not to become neglectful of him, whether praying Salah, reciting Quran, seeking knowledge of Deen, reading Hadith, books of Fiqh, making Tasbeeh, or even thinking about the greatness of Allah S.W.T.
The Prophet ( ﷺ ) said, “Allah says: ‘I am just as my slave thinks I am, (i.e. I am able to do for him what he thinks I can do for him) and I am with him if He remembers Me. If he remembers Me in his himself (heart), I too, remember him in myself; and if he remembers Me in a group of people, I remember him in a group that is better than they; and if he comes one span nearer to Me, I go one cubit nearer to him; and if he comes one cubit nearer to Me, I go a distance of two outstretched arms nearer to him; and if he comes to Me walking, I go to him running.’ “(2)
Sahih Bukhari, 7405
Only Allah knows best.
