Question:
One brother lives in Madinah Munawwarah , he has flew back to jeddah today morning from England. His mother has intention of travelling from jeddah to makkah for Umrah, so she has her ihram on. The son is feeling tired and doesn’t have any intention of Umrah
Can he accompany his mother to makkah with the intention of Salah only and don’t wear the ihram? He is a travel consultant, hence he is constantly travelling
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Answer
It is not allowed for anyone to enter the meeqat except in a state of ihram and without intending Umrah (or Hajj).1 The meeqat is the set boundary a pilgrim cannot enter except in a state of ihram, anyone entering without being in a state of ihram has to perform damm (animal sacrifice) as a penalty.2
The only instance, when one could enter the Haram without intending for umrah is, one should intend to enter the area between the meeqat and Haram for another need, once they have done this they can enter into Makkah without ihram and without the intention of Umrah.3 4 Please be advised that this should not be used as a means of coming in and out of the meeqat, rather should only be used in dire need and is not a general rule nor advisable.
Feeling tired would not be a sufficient enough reason, one should strive to complete as many Umrahs as possible and should do this regardless of how tired or how much one travels.
Only Allah (عز و جل) knows best.
