Unsure Of When Ones Period Started After Praying Salah

Question

 

 

Assalamualikum wa rahmatullahi wa barkatuhu 

 

 

My stomach ached so I thought my period had come but it didn’t. Then I did my work and took ghusl early so that I could pray on time before it came.

 

 

After ghusl, I felt the need to go to the washroom. I had breakfast and then hung my clothes to dry. I think approximately 20-25 minutes later I went to the washroom, I got my period after urination.

 

 

Am I sinful?

 

 

Do I have to make up this prayer?

 

 

 

 

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

 

 

Answer:

 

 

If you believe your period started either before or after the prayer, you do not need to make up the prayer. If you did not notice any bleeding before or during your prayer, then the prayer is valid, and there is no need to repeat it. Even if you think your period may have started just before you prayed, the prayer does not need to be made up.

 

 

Praying while on your period is not allowed, but if you were unaware that your period had begun and performed the prayer unknowingly, you are not sinful, and no further action is required. It’s a good practice to check if your period is imminent before praying to ensure purity in order to make sure you don’t end up praying when you shouldn’t be praying.

اللباب في شرح الكتاب ١/‏٤٣ 

(والحيض يسقط عن الحائض الصلاة) لأن في قضائها حرجا لتضاعفها (ويحرم عليها الصوم) لأنه ينافيه، ولا يسقطه؛ لعدم الحرج في قضائه، ولذا قال: (وتقضي) أي الحائض والنفساء (الصوم ولا تقضي الصلاة، ولا تدخل) الحائض وكذا النفساء والجنب (المسجد، ولا تطوف بالبيت، ولا يأتيها زوجها) لحرمة ذلك كله (١) .

(قَوْلُهُ وَالْحَيْضُ يُسْقِطُ) يُفِيدُ ظَاهِرًا عَدَمَ تَعَلُّقِ أَصْلِ الْوُجُوبِ بِهَا، وَهَذَا لِأَنَّ تَعَلُّقَهُ يَسْتَتْبِعُ فَائِدَتَهُ، وَهِيَ إمَّا الْأَدَاءُ أَوْ الْقَضَاءُ، وَالْأَوَّلُ مُنْتَفٍ لِقِيَامِ الْحَدَثِ مَعَ الْعَجْزِ عَنْ رَفْعِهِ، وَالثَّانِي كَذَلِكَ فَضْلًا مِنْهُ تَعَالَى دَفْعًا لِلْحَرَجِ اللَّازِمِ بِإِلْزَامِ الْقَضَاءِ لِتَضَاعُفِ الصَّلَاةِ خُصُوصًا فِيمَنْ عَادَتُهَا أَكْثَرُ، فَانْتَفَى الْوُجُوبُ لِانْتِفَاءِ فَائِدَتِهِ لَا لِعَدَمِ
