Question:
A man has a few businesses. Amongst them, one business is solely haram (as in he sells liquor or gives money on credit with charging interest) though the capital used for that business is totally halal. So if all profit from that specific haram business is utilised to pay for taxes only levied by the government. He doesn’t use that profit for himself. Will he then be punished on the day of judgment because of this?
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Answer:
Any income or savings which one has in their possession which is haram will make everything else haram. This man should not use the haram income for anything. If acquired then it should be immediately discarded. After having acquired the haram income, he must then repent immediately and seek a way out from this.
All avenues which lead to bad and evil things should be discarded also. In this case, the man should immediately discard selling liquor as one who sells and provides liquor for others is considered sinful also. Any benefit from sinful avenues should immediately be discarded and one should seek protection and ask for mercy from Allah’s infinite mercy.
