Question:

I keep getting threatening thoughts regarding affecting on Imaan.

I usually respond to my thoughts in urdu by saying ‘jee nahi’ which means no.

I got a thought if a certain person does such and such thing like gardening business it will affect my imaan ( nauzobillah) Something like that.

I said in urdu ‘jee’ but didn’t say ‘nahi’. Then on realising few seconds later roughly i said ‘nahi’.

I was actually trying to ignore the thought so i stopped at only ‘jee’.

In urdu ‘ jee’ means yes. But if coupled with nahi it mean No.

So i said ‘jee’ it was an incomplete word. I wanted to say ‘Jee nahi’ . I meant No.

So will it affect my imaan if a certain person does that act (gardening business) etc on which i said jee only?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

These whispers are from Shaitan, and these thoughts do not take you out of Imam (faith). (1)

You should try your best to refrain from such thoughts.

Keep yourself busy with the remembrance of Allah S.W.T.

Seek Allah’s protection from whispers of the devil.

Uthman b. Abul-‘As said he told Allah’s messenger S.A.W. that the devil interfered with his prayer and his recitation of the Qur’an, causing confusion in his mind, and Allah’s messenger S.A.W. replied, “That is a devil called Khinzab; so when you feel his presence seek refuge from him in Allah and spit three times on your left side.” ‘Uthman did so and Allah caused him (the devil and his whispers) to depart from him.
