Question:

We know what we are excused for waswasah that cross our mind, as long as we don’t verbally say of them, and don’t believe in them.

But there are some voluntary thoughts that come, for example in my case, I have been depressed for a long time and didn’t really know what’s success and happiness. And every time I try to study harder and it’s the time to study the best, some matters come and I have to stop giving more focus on studying. So because of that, the thoughts that come to my mind are (thoughts because of the situation I’m in, because of my feelings. These become my feelings because when things continuously happen, we start believing them. So I started to believe that Allah won’t even answer my dua, or by praying, nothing will happen, but deep down I also knew that He does listen and gives When He wants to. But I stopped making dua naturally because I lost trust) that probably Allah doesn’t want me to succeed and that I hate my fate. Does this make me a disbeliever? Please tell me. Please explain this in detail. Because it happens at a great deal with me. Because of these questions, yesterday I even said to myself that probably hell is my eternal place. But then I said to myself that No! We’ll correct our beliefs and ask questions. Does this make me a disbeliever?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

Allah says in the Quran; Say (on My behalf), .O servants of Mine who have acted recklessly against their own selves, do not despair of Allah’s mercy. Surely, Allah will forgive all sins. Surely, He is the One who is the Most-Forgiving, the Very-Merciful. Surah Zumar verse 53

Allah does not reject any of the Dua made by his servants “When My servants ask you about Me, then (tell them that) I am near. I respond to the call of one when he prays to Me; so they should respond to Me, and have faith in Me, so that they may be on the right path”. Surah Baqarah 186

Allah S.W.T. is al Hakeem (the Most Wise), we need to understand that Allah loves us more than our own mothers love us. He knows in his wisdom what is good for us and when it is good for us etc.

We need to put our trust in him and have positive thoughts about him.

Abu Hurairah R.A. narrates;

Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said, “Allah said, ‘I am to my slave as he thinks of Me, (i.e. I am able to do for him what he thinks I can do for him). Bukhari 7505

Imam Tahawi writes;

We name the people who follow our Qiblah Muslims and believers, as long as they acknowledge, confirm, and do not deny all that the Prophet S.A.W. brought, stated, and imparted. (1) Aqidah Tahawiyyah page 20

InShaAllah you are a believer. Immediately make Istighfar and repent to Allah S.W.T. Whenever you have such thoughts, keep asking Allah for help.

Only Allah knows best.
