Question:

 

Is it permissible to have this strapped around my chest whilst in the state of ihram for safe-keeping of valuable items?

 

 

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

 

Answer:

 

Among the prohibitions of Ihram is the wearing of clothing that is figure-hugging and fastened on the limbs. This can happen in two methods:

 

1. Ishtimāl – This refers to tying and fastening clothing to the body in a way that results in the clothing taking the shape and form of the limbs, similar to ordinary clothing.

 

2. Istimsāk – This involves clothing having accessories such as stitching, press studs, Velcro, or elastic, which cause the clothing to take the shape of the limbs and resemble everyday attire.

 

 

Despite these prohibitions, wearing a pouch in Ihram is permissible. This is because a pouch does not fit tightly around the body nor does it take the shape of the limbs like regular clothing. Instead, it is an accessory that can be used to carry essential items such as money, identification, or medications. The pouch does not fall under the prohibitions of Ishtimāl or Istimsāk as long as it does not resemble fitted clothing or have tight elastic bands that cling to the body.

(قَوْلُهُ أوْ لَبِسَ مَخِيطًا) تَقَدَّمَ تَعْرِيفُهُ فِي فَصْلِ الإحْرامِ (قَوْلُهُ لُبْسًا مُعْتادًا) بِأنْ لا يَحْتاجَ فِي حِفْظِهِ عِنْدَ الِاشْتِغالِ بِالعَمَلِ إلى تَكَلُّفٍ. وضِدُّهُ أنْ يَحْتاجَ إلَيْهِ، بِأنْ يَجْعَلَ ذَيْلَ قَمِيصِهِ مَثَلًا أعْلى وجَيْبَهُ أسْفَلَ شَرْحُ اللُّبابِ (قَوْلُهُ أوْ وضَعَهُ إلَخْ) أيْ لَوْ ألْقى القَباءَ عَلى كَتِفَيْهِ ولَمْ يُدْخِلْ فِيهِ يَدَيْهِ ولَمْ يَزُرَّهُ لا شَيْءَ عَلَيْهِ إلّا الكَراهَةُ وتَقَدَّمَ تَمامُ الكَلامِ فِي فَصْلِ الإحْرامِ

 

 

البناية شرح الهداية ٤/‏٣٣٠

م: (وإن لبس ثوبا مخيطا) ش: أصله مخيوط، كمبيع أصله مبيوع، استثقلت الضمة على الياء فحذفت فاجتمع ساكنان، فحذفت الواو وكسرت الخاء لأجل الياء م: (أو غطى رأسه يوما كاملا فعليه دم) ش: وفي «الأسرار» و«مبسوط شيخ الإسلام» أو ليلة كاملة أو لبس اللباس كله من القميص والسراويل والعباء والخفين يومًا كاملًا فعليه دم واحد، وكذا لو دام أياما أو كان نزعه من الليل ما لم يعزم على تركه، لأن اللبس قد اتحد، كذا ذكره التمرتاشي والولوالجي م: (وإن كان أقل من ذلك) ش: أي من يوم كامل م: (فعليه صدقة) ش: لنقصان الاستعمال.

 

 

م: (وعن أبي يوسف – ﵀ – أنه إذا لبس أكثر من نصف يوم فعليه دم) ش: وهذا رواه الحسن بن زياد عن أبي يوسف، وهو غير مشهور م: (وهو قول أبي حنيفة – ﵀ – لولا أي المروي عن أبي يوسف، وهو قول أبي حنيفة أولا) ش: أي كان يقوله أولًا ثم
