Question:

Can I confirm it is ok for a person in ihram to wear clothes that are fragrant from before ie the smell of washing powder/fabric conditioner?

In the name of Allāh, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

Umm ul-Mumineen, Ā’isha RA says: I applied perfume to the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ before He entered upon the state of lhrām. [Sahih al-Bukhari: Hadith 1754; Sahih al-Muslim: Hadith 1189; Sunan an-Nasā’i: Hadith 2687, 2691; Sunan Ibn Mājah: Hadith 3042] [1]

Thus, it is permissible to adorn clothes that were perfumed prior to entering into lhrām.

Only Allāh Ta’ālā knows best.
