What happens to the Salatul Tawaf if one starts their menses?

Question:

Hope you are well. Please could you answer the following question for me?

Basically, say a woman has to do Tawaf e Ziyaarah, even though she’s on her period, what does she do about the two rakah of Tawaf? Does she pray it or not?

 

Answer:

In The Name Of Allah, The Most-Merciful, The Most Kind

One of the conditions of Tawaf and salah is purity. A woman while on her period is not pure and therefore she cannot perform Tawaf and Salatul Tawaf. [1]

In this case she should delay her flight until she is able to perform the Tawaf e Ziyaarah. If she leaves Saudi Arabia without performing Tawaf e Ziyaarah, her Hajj will be incomplete. Having relations with her spouse will be forbidden for her and she will remain in the state of ihram until she comes back to Makkah and performs the Tawaf e Ziyaarah. Also, if she leaves Makkah without performing Tawaf e Ziyaarah and then returns to Makkah to perform it, she will have to sacrifice an animal in expiation for delaying the Tawaf.[2]

If a woman does Tawaf e Ziyaarah while on her period she will have to sacrifice either a cow or a camel in the Haram.[3]
