Question

I know about halala what was done in it but I want to know why this is done what's the reason behind it.

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيْم

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

And if he has divorced her [for the third time], then she is not lawful to him afterwards until [after] she marries a husband other than him. And if the latter husband divorces her [or dies], there is no blame upon the woman and her former husband for returning to each other if they think that they can keep [within] the limits of Allah. These are the limits of Allah, which He makes clear to a people who know. (2:230)

We should bear in mind that everything that Allah SWT orders has infinite wisdom behind it, even if we do not always understand it. Halala is something that Allah SWT has ordered when a husband gives his wife three talaqs and then wishes to take her back.

Another reason may be that Islam does not allow men to divorce and remarry their wives (thus playing with their lives) as and when they wish. Halala is put into place so that a man thinks carefully before issuing three talaqs to his wife which is reprehensible in Islam

Only Allah knows best.
