Question:

What Is the Ruling for Women on Periods During Hajj

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

Women on periods cannot perform Tawaf but can perform all the other actions of Hajj. As Prophet said to Aisha when she was in menses, “Perform all the rituals but do not perform Tawaf until you are pure.”

Tawaf al-Sadar is not obligatory on a woman who is menstruating. As Ibn Abbas said: ‘Prophet lightened from menstruating women’. As for Tawaf uz-ziyarah, it is obligatory but a menstruating woman must delay doing this Tawaf until her period is over.
