Question:
Assalamu Alaikum. I was flying for umrah and it happened to be asr time. We read our asr salaah then the meeqaat came close. We had ihram on but didn’t yet read the 2 rakaats. So, if we waited for maghrib time then we would have gone past the meeqaat without reading the 2 rakaats and if we read it, then it’s in a makrooh time. So, what should we do? What is the status of ihraam salaah?
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Answer:
The Salah performed after wearing the Ihram is Sunnah and should be performed in a non-makruh time.[1]
To perform any Fardh salah after the Ihram is worn will be sufficient in place of the two rakah sunnah.[2]
In regards to your situation, as you had performed the Asr salah in the state of Ihram, Insha Allah it will be sufficient and the two rakah sunnah will not have to be performed in the makruh time.
Only Allah knows best
