When to Sit for Itikaaf in Ramadan?

Question

Assalamu alaikum. I wanted to perform itikaf for the last 3 days of Ramadan. What time should I sit? Please reply as soon as possible.

 

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيْم

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

 

Answer:

If a person intends to do i'tikaf for 3 days and nights in Ramadan, he/she should sit i'tikaf before maghrib enters on the 1st day. And he/she can exit from i'tikaf after maghrib of 3rd day.[1]

For e.g: If he starts i'tikaf on Monday before maghrib prayer which is his 1st day. Then his 3rd day will be on Thursday after maghrib. Now he can exit his i'tikaf.
