I have found the contemporary Hanafi Fuqah\u0101 apply two methods.<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">Method A:<br \/>\n\t1<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\">.When<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"> bleeding occurs without the min of 15 days <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\">tuhr<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"> in between it is considered <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\">istihada<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">, up and till the 15 <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\">days<\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"> min is complete, after which any bleeding is considered <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\">haidh<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">.<br \/>\n\tE.g. a woman bled from the 29th to the 31st of May 2017 then stopped. Blood returned again on the 8th June 2017. This&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">would&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">be&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">istihada<\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"> until the 15th June, after which the bleeding would be considered <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\">haidh<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"> since the min of 15 days <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\">tuhr<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"> has occurred.<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<br \/>\n\t<span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">2. When bleeding exceeds the max of 10 days, the woman refers back to her last month&#39;s habit. E.g. last month she bled for 8 days. This month she bled for 11 days so as soon as she goes over the10 day max, she refers back to last month in which case 8 days will&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">be&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\">haidh<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"> and 3 days <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\">istihaada<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">.<br \/>\n\tSo this method applies&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\">only<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">the<\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">haidh<\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"> habit. As for the <\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">tuhr<\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">, a fixed number of 15 days is applied.<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\">Method B: Imam Birgive&#39;s Method<br \/>\n\tHowever, there is a Hanafi Fiqh book by Imam Birgivi (translated into English by Sr. Hedaya Hartford and Ashraf Muneeb) which shows a different method of calculation.<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">While maintaining the <\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">haidh<\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"> habit, they also maintain the <\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">tuhr<\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"> habit. So when bleeding exceeds the max of ten, or bleeding occurs without there being a min of 15 days <\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">tuhr<\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">, BOTH the <\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">haidh<\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"> habit and the Tuhr habit is applied.<br \/>\n\tE.g. in the above example (refer to no. 1 above), say a woman has a 3<\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">day&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">haidh<\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"> habit and <\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">20 day<\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"> <\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">tuhr<\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"> habit. When blood returned on 8th June, it would be considered Istihada [Both methods agree on this].<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">However<\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"> instead of saying that the blood after 15th of June is automatically <\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">haidh<\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">, they will apply the <\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">tuhr<\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"> habit of 20th days, and say any blood AFTER the 20th June will be <\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">haidh<\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">. The blood from the 15th to the 20th even though has occurred after the min of 15 days <\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">tuhr<\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">, is still <\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">istihada<\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"> since it is before her <\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">tuhr<\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"> habit. &nbsp;<br \/>\n\tThis method applies&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">both&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">the&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">haidh<\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"> and the <\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">tuhr<\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"> habit.<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<br \/>\n\t<span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">Different Method = Different Results<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<br \/>\n\t<span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">So as you can see applying the straight forward rule of &quot;anything after 15 days tuhr <\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">is<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">haidh<\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">&quot; which method one applies gives a different result in terms of which days are <\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">haidh<\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"> and which are <\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">istihada<\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"> from the method of Imam Birgivi which says to apply the <\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">tuhr<\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"> habit in such cases.<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\">2)&nbsp; Is there<br \/>\n\t1) which method is correct?<br \/>\n\tQuestions-<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">ikhtilaf<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"> within the Hanafi School on this? The translation of that Risalah (Birigive&#39;s Manual Interpreted) calls the first method &quot;incorrect&quot;. (Method A seems easier from fatwa point of view whereas Method B is more difficult)<br \/>\n\t3) Are there any sources which back up both methods?<\/span><\/span><br \/>\n\t&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">\n\t&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">\n\t<span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><strong>\u0628\u0650\u0633\u0652\u0645\u0650 \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0647\u0650 \u0627\u0644\u0631\u0651\u064e\u062d\u0652\u0645\u0646\u0650 \u0627\u0644\u0631\u0651\u064e\u062d\u0650\u064a\u0652\u0645<\/strong><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">\n\t<span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><strong><u>In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><strong><u>Answer:<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">For the sake of brevity and ease, we will mention the preferred view.<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">&#8211; <em>Haid<\/em> (menstruation) is of three days minimum and 10 days maximum.<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">&#8211; <em>Tuhr<\/em> (purity period) is of 15 days minimum with no maximum.<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">A <\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">woman<\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"> who <\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">experiences<\/span><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"> bleeding for a duration, less or more than the stipulated period above, is considered to be in <em>Istihada<\/em>.<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">She is generally from among two types:-<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">1. <em>Mubtadi&rsquo;ah<\/em> (one with an irregular occurrence): A woman who has completed 10 days <\/span><em><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">haidh<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"> but whose blood has not stopped. She will be considered to be <\/span><em><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">ma&rsquo;dhoor<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-size:14px;\"> (excused) and will make <em>wudu<\/em> for every <em>salah <\/em>during the irregular bleeding.<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size:14px;\">2. <em>Mu&rsquo;tadah<\/em> (one with a habitual occurrence): A woman who has a fixed menstrual cycle every month.
