\n\tQuestion:<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tAssalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tFrom learning about how to do Istilaam, it seems the Hanafis say first to stand facing the Hajr <\/span>aswad<\/span>, stand and raise the hands up to the ear lobes or shoulders and say the <\/span>takbeer<\/span>. This is one action. Let's call this the <\/span>iftitaata.<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tThen you do Istilaam, which is touching the hajr with both hands, then kissing with the lips and then making sujud on it. If this is not possible, then touching with the hands and kissing the hands. If this is not possible, then touching with a stick and then kissing it. If this is not possible then making a gesture with both the hands and kissing the hands. Let’s call all this Istilaam.<\/span><\/span>
\n\t \n<\/p>\n

\n\t1.  <\/span>Now<\/span>, what is the proof for a separate Iftitaah?<\/span><\/span>
\n\t \n<\/p>\n

\n\t2.  And what is the proof for making Ishaarah with both the hands?
\n\tIt seems the Hadith used "The hands are not raised except in seven places…" is being used as proof for both a separate Iftitaah and for doing Istilaam with both the hands? Am I right? I went to this seminar and the speaker was saying there is no proof for a separate <\/span><\/span>iftitaah<\/span><\/span> and <\/span><\/span>isharah<\/span><\/span> should be done with one hand.<\/span><\/span>

\n\t3. He also said that there is no proof to kiss the hands after making <\/span><\/span>ishaara<\/span><\/span>, What proof do the Hanafis have for this?<\/span><\/span>

\n\tAssalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tA person intending \u1e6daw\u0101f<\/i> should first make an intention, then face the black stone (al-\u1e25ajr al-<\/i><\/span>aswad<\/span><\/i>) and make takb\u012br<\/i>, then raise their hands (up to their ears) just as in \u1e63al\u0101h<\/i>. Now they should do istil\u0101m<\/i>, which is that they should try place both of their hands in the silver dome holding the black stone and kiss it, if not they should touch it with either two hands or one (preferably the right), then kiss their hand. If not, they should try to touch it with a stick or something similar, then kiss that object. If all of this is not possible, they should stand in-line, whilst facing the black stone, then raise their hands (palms facing the black stone) up to its height, then do takb\u012br<\/i>, then finally kiss their palms. They should then repeat the action of istil\u0101m<\/i> in every round of \u1e6daw\u0101f<\/i>.[1]<\/sup><\/sup><\/a><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t1.    The ‘<\/span>iftitaah<\/span>’ is only done once, at the beginning of \u1e6daw\u0101f<\/i>.<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t2.    Ibr\u0101h\u012bm al-Nakh\u02bf\u012b narrates “The hands are raised <\/span>in<\/span> seven occasions. The opening of the \u1e63al\u0101h<\/i>, the takb\u012br<\/i> for qun\u016bt<\/i> during <\/span>witr<\/span><\/i>, during [\u1e63al\u0101h] of the two \u02bf\u012bds, during istil\u0101m<\/i>, during [sa\u02bf\u012b] of \u1e63af\u0101 and marw\u0101h, during \u02bfarafah and <\/span>muzdalifah<\/span> and whilst pelting the <\/span>jamratayn<\/span><\/i>.” Such <\/span>a narration<\/span> is deemed to be a statement of the companions or their followers, as it is not possible to be conjured up from one’s intellect.[2]<\/sup><\/sup><\/a><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t3.    N\u0101fi’ says, “I saw Ibn \u02bfUmar RA do istil\u0101m<\/i> of the black stone with his hands, he then kissed his hands.” (Narrated by Bukh\u0101ri and Muslim)<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tAb\u016b \u1e6cufayl said, “I saw the Prophet SAW do \u1e6daw\u0101f<\/i>, whilst doing istil\u0101m<\/i> of the ka\u02bfbah<\/i> with a stick (similar to a crosier), he then kissed that stick. (Muslim)[3]<\/sup><\/sup><\/a><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n
