\n\tRegarding your question on hookah, the nature of the ruling will differ based on different scenarios:<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t \n<\/p>\n

\n\tFirstly, if the hookah instrument is vaporizing an impure or intoxicating substance such as cannabis, opium, black henbane, etc., then smoking hookah will be haram (impermissible).[1]<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t \n<\/p>\n

\n\tSecondly, if the hookah is tobacco-free, nicotine-free and even smoke-free and only produces flavoured vapour and stream, then making use of this type of hookah would be permissible[2] although discouraged, as this usually entails going to hookah cafes, intermingling of the genders, imitating the non-believers, wasting one's time etc.<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t \n<\/p>\n

\n\tLastly, if the hookah is tobacco-based, then although it is permissible in essence, smoking it would be makruh (disliked) due to external factors such as:<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t1. It is harmful to one’s health<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t2. It produces bad odour which disturbs others<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t3. It can cause addictiveness<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t4. Using it usually entails going to hookah cafes, imitating the non-believers in their act of being heedless of All\u0101h Ta’\u0101l\u0101, etc.<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t \n<\/p>\n

\n\tMaul\u0101n\u0101 Rash\u012bd Ahmad Gang\u014dh\u012b, Maul\u0101n\u0101 ‘Abdul Hayy Lucknaw\u012b, Muft\u012b ‘Az\u012bzur Rahm\u0101n, and Muft\u012b Shaf\u012b’ all deem the smoking of tobacco to be makr\u016bh tanz\u012bh\u012b. Maul\u0101n\u0101 Ashrah ‘Al\u012b Th\u0101nw\u012b deems it makr\u016bh and adds that it will be tanz\u012bh\u012b or tahr\u012bm\u012b based on external factors. In other words, if its usage results in more harm and sin, then the severity of its ruling will increase.[3]<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n
