\n\tI <\/span><\/span>wanted<\/span><\/span> to ask that when you give non-Muslims financial aid etc. is this nafl sadaqah? What is it counted as?<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tObviously, you don’t give zakat but I was just wondering as my husband has a non-Muslim friend whose wife has just been diagnosed with cancer.<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tYou are correct: zak\u0101h cannot be given to non-Muslims.<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tHowever, it is permissible to give charity (\u1e63adaqah) to needy non-Muslims as a supererogatory (nafl) act of virtue. A Muslim helps all those in need, not just other Muslims. The Prophet \ufdfa<\/span> is reported to have said: "There is <\/span><\/span>a reward<\/span><\/span> for serving any living being".[1]<\/a><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n
