\n\tAssalamualaikum,<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tA person purchased an animal for Aqeeqah. Is he allowed to sell that animal?<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tAnswer:<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t\u02bbAq\u012bqah refers to the slaughtering performed for a newborn child. The Prophet \ufdfa<\/span> is reported to have said, "A child is pledged to its \u02bbaq\u012bqah; slaughtering should be done for it on the seventh day, it should be given a name, and its head should be shaved."[1]<\/a><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tIn the \u1e24anaf\u012b madhhab, if one has the financial means to perform it, the \u02bbaq\u012bqah is considered musta\u1e25ab (i.e. commendable and desirable), not far\u1e0d or w\u0101jib (i.e. an obligation). Whilst performing it is encouraged, not performing it would not be considered a sin.<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tSelling the animal that was initially purchased with the intention to perform \u02bbaq\u012bqah would be permissible.<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n
