\n\tI just want clarification that halal mortgage is permissible, as I live with my parents and have a child and another on the way Insha Allah. My wife is working as she wants to save up enough for a deposit, but I don't want her to work, as I believe we should rent but she says that is not an option.  This makes me feel upset and angry and causes me to commit wrong by going in chat rooms with no intention to do wrong but just take my mind elsewhere. I want to know what I can do to stop this habit as it is affecting my marriage as well. Jazak Allah Khair<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tIf your wife is looking to apply for a conventional mortgage which is contrary to the Shariah, then the sin and the detrimental effect of it should be explained to her in an easy and simple way to understand with kindness. Expressing your feelings to her about the conventional mortgage will bring to her attention how worried and distressing this is for you.<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tAs for participating in chat rooms that lead to committing sins and disobedience, practical steps should be taken to put a stop to. Some practical steps that can be taken are:<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

  1. \n\t\tAdopting the company of the pious and learned.<\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n
  2. \n\t\tAvoid being alone for long periods of time.<\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n
  3. \n\t\tPlacing the laptop\/computer in a public place in the house which is visible to all to see.<\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n
  4. \n\t\tOccupying yourself in other works to keep you distracted and away from these chat rooms.<\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
