\n\tIn regards to the lunar eclipse, do we offer the salah after if we notice it or <\/span><\/span>do we offer the salah regardless of seeing it due to the calculated prediction?<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t \n<\/p>\n

\n\tThe purpose of performing the Salaatul Khusuf during a lunar eclipse is the same purpose as for performing Salaat during or immediately after an earthquake, heavy disastrous rains or wind, or any of the forces of nature which bring destruction or fear.[1]<\/a><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t \n<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Prophet (s.a.w.) is reported to have said, “Whenever you have witnessed any of these fearful occurrences, rush towards Salaat.”[2]<\/a><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t \n<\/p>\n

\n\tThe objective of these occurrences is not to encourage moon gazing, sightseeing, or gossip, but to remind mankind that our sins have effects on the world and environment which surrounds us. Whether a person sees the lunar eclipse, hears about it from someone else who is reliable, or finds the time due to calculation, it will be permissible to perform the Salaat during the eclipse or immediately after. There is no harm done if the time had elapsed or a mistake was made in the calculation due to the salaat being optional and for the purpose of repentance and turning to Allah.<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t \n<\/p>\n

\n\tWe should keep in mind that observing these events first hand is always better as they have a more resounding effect on the heart and will encourage us to seek forgiveness from Allah more quickly and sincerely.<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n
