\n\tWhat is the ruling on joining a person who started the prayer Munfarid?<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tIn the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful<\/u><\/b><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tAnswer:<\/u><\/b><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t \n<\/p>\n

\n\tThe answer depends on the situation:<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t \n<\/p>\n

\n\tIf the person who started prayer Munfarid (praying alone by themselves) is praying a supererogatory (nafl) prayer, and the person joining is going to pray an obligatory (far\u1e0d) prayer, this would not be permissible in the \u1e24anaf\u012b madhhab. If the two were praying obligatory prayers, but different prayers (for example \u1e92uhr vs \u02bbA\u1e63r), that would also not be permissible.<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t \n<\/p>\n

\n\tIf this is in a Masjid where the times of congregational prayer are fixed and there is an appointed Imam and Mu'adhdhin, and the person who started prayer Munfarid is praying in the main area of prayer, then this would be prohibitively disliked (makr\u016bh ta\u1e25riman). If it is away from the main prayer area, then this would be permissible. (<\/span>Raddu Al-Mu\u1e25tar, 1\/395).<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t \n<\/p>\n

\n\tIf this is in a Masjid that is in a marketplace or next to a highway, i.e. a place where commuters and travellers perform prayers regularly, and there is no appointed Imam and Mu'adhdhin, then this would be permissible.<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t \n<\/p>\n

\n\tIf it is outside of a Masjid, and both the people are praying the same obligatory prayer, then it would be encouraged to join.<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t \n<\/p>\n

\n\tIf doing this, the person who started prayer Munfarid would change their intention in the middle of their <\/a>prayer to become the Im\u0101m (<\/span>Bad\u0101'i\u02bbu Al-\u1e62an\u0101'i\u02bb,1\/128).<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n
