{"id":17519,"date":"2020-10-29T21:29:27","date_gmt":"2020-10-29T21:29:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/daruliftabirmingham.co.uk\/?p=17519"},"modified":"2020-10-29T21:29:27","modified_gmt":"2020-10-29T21:29:27","slug":"rulings-on-body-piercings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/daruliftabirmingham.co.uk\/home\/rulings-on-body-piercings\/","title":{"rendered":"Rulings on Body Piercings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: right;\">\n\t<span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><strong>Fatwa ID: 04324<\/strong><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<strong><span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\">Answered by:&nbsp;Maulana Naieem Mohammad<\/span><\/span><\/strong>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><strong><u>Question<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\">Did anyone write up a Fatwa on body piercings?<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">\n\t<strong><span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><span dir=\"RTL\">\u0628\u0650\u0633\u0652\u0645\u0650 \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0647\u0650 \u0627\u0644\u0631\u0651\u064e\u062d\u0652\u0645\u0646\u0650 \u0627\u0644\u0631\u0651\u064e\u062d\u0650\u064a\u0652\u0645<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong>\n<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">\n\t<span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><strong><u>In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><strong><u>Answer:<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\">The above question is one which is answered after considering the following points:<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n\t\t<span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><strong><u>If a woman<\/u><\/strong> willingly adorns herself with the intention of enticing her lawful husband who has requested such adornment from her, then such adornment will be <strong><u>mustahab (preferable). <\/u><\/strong>All matters will be judged according to their intentions.<a href=\"#_ftn1\" name=\"_ftnref1\" title=\"\"><sup><sup>[1]<\/sup><\/sup><\/a> Such adornment may save the husband from falling into illicit relationships outside of his marriage.<\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"margin-left:36.0pt;\">\n\t&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li value=\"2\">\n\t\t<span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\">The custom of the people of that locality or country is considered for establishing a judgment.<a href=\"#_ftn2\" name=\"_ftnref2\" title=\"\"><sup><sup>[2]<\/sup><\/sup><\/a> If the usage of nose rings\/septum piercings, earrings, or other piercings is a well-known beauty habit of the women of that locality\/country then <strong><u>there will be no harm in Muslim women<\/u><\/strong> also engaging themselves in it. <em>This allowance is with the understanding that the piercing is done without the Awrah (parts of the body that are necessary to be covered) is not exposed to any non-mahram individuals.<\/em><\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>\n\t&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:36.0pt;\">\n\t&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li value=\"3\">\n\t\t<span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\">&rdquo;Repelling an&nbsp;evil is better than attracting a benefit&rdquo;<a href=\"#_ftn3\" name=\"_ftnref3\" title=\"\"><sup><sup>[3]<\/sup><\/sup><\/a>. There is the benefit of a woman adorning herself if however there is the possibility of non-mahram males coming into physical contact with her to do the procedure of the piercings, or the woman is not married, or she is in Iddat, or the husband has not given permission for such adornment and there is the risk of non-mahram males being attracted to her and the seeds of evil being planted, then it <strong><u>will not be permissible<\/u><\/strong> to use such piercings due to the repelling of evil being preferred at this time over the attracting of any benefit.<\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"margin-left:36.0pt;\">\n\t&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li value=\"4\">\n\t\t<span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\">&ldquo;Whoever imitates a group of people will be considered as part of them&rdquo;<a href=\"#_ftn4\" name=\"_ftnref4\" title=\"\"><sup><sup>[4]<\/sup><\/sup><\/a>,if the custom of the people does not recognize the nose piercings as a beauty tradition except amongst the immoral women then it <strong><u>would not be permissible for Muslim women<\/u><\/strong> to wear such adornments due to fear of imitation of the wrongdoers.<\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>\n\t&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li value=\"5\">\n\t\t<span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\">Concerning men using body piercing as an adornment; <strong><u>it will not be permissible<\/u><\/strong> due to it being a means of adornment predominantly practiced by women and there is no sensible beauty in males piercing their bodies. Islam forbids men from resembling women in physical traits hence the prohibition of men wearing gold and silk.<a href=\"#_ftn5\" name=\"_ftnref5\" title=\"\">[5]<\/a><\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>\n\t&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li value=\"6\">\n\t\t<span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\">If there was advice from a reliable medical source that any specific type of piercing will lead to permanent bodily injury, mutilation, or infection then it will not be allowed. &rdquo;Repelling an evil is better than attracting a benefit.&rdquo;<a href=\"#_ftn6\" name=\"_ftnref6\" title=\"\">[6]<\/a><\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>\n\t&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\">All of the above are to be understood and duly considered before deciding whether the use of anybody piercing is permitted in your case or not. Allah has given us a way of life that is easy to follow and gives due regard for the change and diversity of customs of people and places. Each person&rsquo;s reason for using such piercings will be different as discussed above.
